'Thank you, Stephen': legacy of a teenage fundraiser
The Teenage Cancer Trust has revealed that more than £5.5m has been raised by teenager Stephen Sutton.
Stephen died at the age of 19 on the 14th of May in 2014. He had bowel cancer, which had spread to other parts of his body. He'd pledged to raise £10,000 for the charity, and managed to raise £3.2m by the time of his death.
On the second anniversary of his death, people who have benefited from his fundraising told 5 live they want to say "thank you" to him.
Alice received a Stephen Sutton scholarship to study a postgraduate certificate in teenage young adult cancer care. She said "without this funding, I would not have been able to afford the fees".
Sian, a Teenage Cancer Trust Youth Support Coordinator' in Nottingham, said Stephen's money meant her hospital could build a new teenager cancer trust unit for 13-17 year olds.
