Jose Mourinho will have to honour Manchester United's traditions of playing attacking football and promoting players from the academy, according to The Times' chief football writer Henry Winter.

A deal has been agreed for Mourinho to become United's new manager, with an official announcement from the club expected on Friday.

Winter said: "He has got to look at Manchester United's traditions and accept them. He has to attack more, he has to give young kids a chance. I am not necessarily holding my breath, I think there will be the usual defensive stuff with Jose, but I just hope there is a nod to Manchester United's great attacking traditions."
