Tony Bellew: 'I would tank David Haye any day'
New WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew said he would “tank” fellow Briton and ex-heavyweight world champion David Haye “any day of the week”.
Bellew, 33, won the title with a third-round knockout of Ilunga Makabu at Goodison Park on Sunday.
The Liverpudlian’s victory means Britain now has 13 reigning world boxing champions.
"I've always been labelled as this mouthy scouser who never backs it up, but I proved every single doubter out there wrong,” said Bellew.
When asked about moving up to heavyweight bouts, Bellew added: “I'm not going to sit here and say I'm up there with the big giants – but I would tank David Haye any day of the week."
