Prostate cancer survivor: Being fat didn't help

A man who had prostate cancer eight years ago has told 5 live how he lost five stone to get healthy.

John Marshall was 17 and a half stone when he was diagnosed and he said “the weight couldn’t have helped”. John, who has since lost five stone, made his comments after new research found overweight men might be at a higher risk of developing aggressive prostate cancer.

Scientists looked at 140 thousand men from eight European countries - and found that having an extra four inches of fat on your waist could increase the chances of getting cancer by an additional 13%. Men were most at risk when their waistline was bigger than 37 inches.
