Holmes: I Tried Not To Hurt My Friend
Former boxing heavyweight champion Larry Holmes has admitted he tried not to hurt friend and opponent Muhammad Ali when he beat him in October 1980.
Holmes dominated Ali from start to finish, winning every round on every scorecard. At the end of the tenth round, Ali's trainer, Angelo Dundee, stopped the fight. It would be Ali's only loss without "going the distance" for a judges' decision.
Holmes explained just how they reacted to each other in the dressing room after the bout.
