Ali’s pen pal: He was ‘my very best friend’
A woman who was Muhammad Ali’s pen pal has told 5 live he became her “very best friend” over the 30 years they corresponded.
Stephanie Meade was only ten years old when she first wrote to Ali, and her friends told her he would never reply. However after a few months’ wait she received a hand written letter.
Paying her last respects to Ali in Louisville, Kentucky, Stephanie said “he showed his love for me and I am forever changed by it”.
