Euro 2016: Alcohol restrictions and extra police 'welcomed'
A Chief Superintendent has said the alcohol restrictions in Lille are "welcomed" by security forces.
Chief Superintendent Steve Neill is in charge of a delegation of English police officers who are working with the police force.
Speaking to 5 live Breakfast's Nicky Campbell, he explained that fans will still be able to buy alcohol from bars and restaurants but will be unable to drink on the streets.
"What we saw in Marseille was supporters going to supermarkets and off-licences and buying crates of beer...those bottles then became missiles".
He added that there had been "significant uplift" in work to avoid more "shocking" scenes like those in Marseille at the weekend.
