Strawberry moon: What to expect tonight

Not only is today the longest day of the year, the 'strawberry moon' will also be visible in the night sky.

Astronomer and author of The Moon, David Whitehouse said the combination of solstice and June's full moon, only occurs "once every 50 to 60 years".

He explained that the name 'strawberry moon' derives from North-American native Indians who coined the phrase to mark the beginning of the strawberry season.

He said people should just expect to see "a bright full moon fairly low down on the horizon".
