Orlando needs to 'face this hate with love'
Funerals for the Orlando nightclub shooting victims are continuing to take place amid protests from anti-gay group Westboro Baptist Church.
Jim Helsinger is the artistic director from the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre group who have been dressing as angels with large wings to shield mourners from the demonstrations.
He told 5 live's Dotun Adebayo the angel wings idea isn't new but was first thought up in 1999 for the funeral of a gay man that was picketed by the same "hate group".
As well as blocking out the anti-gay group from the sight of the mourners, he said 'whenever the hate group would begin shouting and yelling we would start singing'.
The Westboro Baptist Church only has about 40 members but is well known for its hate speeches and funeral protests.
