The son I lost in Basra
Matthew Bacon was a major in the Intelligence Corps. He was killed at a desolate spot in Basra in 2005 when his army patrol was targeted by a roadside bomb.
His father Roger Bacon said his son "loved his job" and he "trusted his government to do the right thing by him" but the government had failed "to have an appropriate duty of care to him and the whole army" which led to catastrophic circumstances.
