Corden producer: How we got Michelle Obama to sing
Getting Michelle Obama to appear on Carpool Karaoke was very different to securing the feature's first guest says executive producer Ben Winston.
"They got in touch with us", he said, referring to Michelle Obama's charity Let Girls Learn. "A week later we found ourselves in the Oval Office."
Carpool Karaoke has become an online hit and an established feature of the Late Late Show with James Corden although the idea nearly didn't make it into the programme.
Almost "any musician you've heard of" turned down the chance to appear on the segment said Winston. It was only after a "chance meeting" with Mariah Carey's publicist that the idea was turned into reality.
