Pokémon Go highlights the plight of Syrian children

A campaign to highlight the plight of Syrian children caught up in the conflict there has used characters from the Pokémon Go game to go viral.

Organised by the Revolutionary Forces of Syria media office (RFS), photographs have been taken of children from towns across Syria holding pictures of Pokémon characters accompanied by the sentence "I am here, come save me".

This is a nod to how Pokémon Go players must physically arrive at a Pokemon destination in order to catch the character.

The chief editor at RFS, Ghaith Hammour, said he hopes it'll show how fun and games enjoyed by most children around the world is being denied to Syrian children.
