Dog Law Solicitor: 'Any dog is capable of being dangerous'
Battersea Dogs and Cats ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ is calling on the Government to review the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, saying current legislation is "flawed" and instead should target irresponsible owners.
The law - which banned the Pit bull terrier, Japanese tosa, Dogo argentino and Fila braziliero breeds based on their physical appearance - was introduced 25 years ago.
Dog Law Solicitor, Trevor Cooper, who deals with any canine related legislation said 'Any dog is capable of being dangerous' but no particular breed has a 'heightened risk'.
He went on to say '86% of the breeders and trainers that responded to a survey said that the dog's aggressive nature is more likely to be because of the way they've been brought up by the owner'.
