Professional golfers shouldn’t be at the Olympics – Townsend
Former PGA Tour player Jay Townsend says professional golfers shouldn’t be competing at the Olympic Games.
Golf will be part of the Olympics for the first time in Rio, but a number of high profile men’s players including Rory McIlroy have pulled out.
“Professionals shouldn’t be playing at the Olympics,” said Townsend.
“If it’s all amateurs, that is how you grow the game.
“To give a bunch of millionaires the chance to go and win a gold medal which means nothing to them I think is silly," he added.
