Rio: Athletes will 'have to deal with' the sea water quality
Just days before the start of the Olympics, a study has found the waterways of Rio de Janeiro are as filthy as ever, contaminated with raw human sewage.
Colin Hill was technical operations manager for London 2012's open water swim in the Serpentine. He told PM that with open water, athletes "have to deal with what's there".
Mr Hill said it would be difficult for the athletes to keep their mouths shut to prevent infection, but that as most would be training in swimming pools, "if they get a tummy bug it'll be after the race itself".
