Women and horror films: reclaiming the genre
The Horror genre often gets bad press when it comes to female representation in the industry and the portrayal of women on screen. But with a large proportion of women now watching horror films, a new London based collective have felt the need to create a space for women to enjoy them. The Final Girls is a screening series focused on exploring feminist themes in horror cinema, highlighting the representation and work of women in horror, both in front of and behind the camera. Jenni Murray finds out more.
