'There was unexpected joy in that moment'
On average nine babies are stillborn every day in the UK. After finding out there was a problem at a weight scan and having an induced labour, Emma Beck recalls seeing her daughter Mary, who was stillborn, for the first time.
She describes her frustration at the silence surrounding stillbirth and how we need to learn to talk about it. Although there are many different causes, Emma discovered studies in the UK show that the largest group of stillbirths are caused by placental dysfunction.
Emma Beck's documentary We Need To Talk About Stillbirth is available to listen to in full via the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 4 website and the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ iPlayer Radio app.
