Father of 2011 riots victim: Time doesn't heal the wounds
Five years on from his son鈥檚 death in the 2011 riots in Birmingham, a man who has been credited with almost single-handedly preventing a race riot says 鈥渢ime doesn鈥檛 heal the wounds.鈥
Speaking to 5 live鈥檚 Phil Williams, Tariq Jahan said he acted because he didn鈥檛 want to see 鈥渧engeance鈥 in his son鈥檚 name.
19-year-old Haroon was one of three men who died attempting to protect local shops from looters. Mr Jahan said 鈥渇ive years on and we鈥檙e still struggling to cope with the loss of our son.鈥
Eight men were acquitted over the deaths in 2012. Mr Jahan has spent years campaigning for a public inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his son鈥檚 death.
