Cannes bans the burkini
The mayor of Cannes, David Lisnard, has banned full-body swimsuits known as "burkinis" from the beach, citing public order concerns. He said they are a "symbol of Islamic extremism" and might spark scuffles, as France is the target of Islamist attacks. Yasser Louati is the spokesman for The Collective Against Islamophobia in France - one of three civic organizations mounting a legal challenge against the decision.
