Sophie Hitchon's dad 'gobsmacked' by her performance
Team GB's Sophie Hitchon threw the hammer of her life in Rio yesterday to become the first British woman to win an Olympic hammer medal by taking bronze.
Her dad Michael Hitchon has been left "absolutely gobsmacked" by her achievement because she's "not the average hammer thrower".
Speaking to 5 live's Nicky Campbell he said, "she's slightly small and she's not quite as heavy or strong as the other girls".
The 25-year-old used to do ballet when she was young but chose to pursue hammer which her dad says "is a good thing really".
