What’s the point of the London black cab now Uber exists?
There are around 24,000 black cabs in London. Their industry is under threat. The number of private hire vehicles in London has doubled in the last ten years. Competition from Uber and the sat-nav. Driverless cars are just round the corner. Can Black cabs keep up with the technology or will they go the way of the red telephone box? Quentin Letts considers the point of the black cab.
