Do we truly value sport?
The former chair of UK Sport spoke to 5 live Breakfast about whether we truly value sport.
Baroness Sue Campbell said: “We value sporting success, but do we value it as a tool for social mobility, education and health and wellbeing?”
She believes that although there has been investment in primary school sport, there is a decline in the amount of time secondary school children spend playing sport each week.
“We’ve got to make sure that the governing bodies of sport are being properly funded to develop more clubs and coaches, and provide local authorities with support to provide facilities,” added Baroness Campbell.
