Uganda's Kizza Besigye: An African optimist?
Kizza Besigye has to be one of Africa's great optimists. Four times now the Ugandan opposition leader has challenged Yoweri Museveni in presidential elections, and four times he has lost. In his sixteen year campaign to unseat Mr Museveni, Kizza Besigye - leader of the Forum for Democratic Change - has been tear-gassed, beaten, placed under house arrest and most recently charged with treason. He had alleged that this year's presidential election was rigged and went ahead and swore himself in as President. He is currently on bail and has been in London to deliver a lecture, where he also found time to talk to Julian Marshall.
