New examples of emojis - those colourful characters used on digital devices for shorthand or for fun - are unveiled every few months and seem pretty harmless. But some in the coding world think the best minds in tech are spending too much time developing new emojis instead of doing more meaningful work. Michael Everson is a Unicode expert who's concerned about coders producing emojis at the expense of support for digitally rendering minority and ancient languages. He told Dan Damon more.
