‘1 in 20 think Newcastle is in Scotland’

Research suggests Sat-navs and technology could be to blame for our poor geography knowledge. The Ordnance Survey say 4 in 10 would incorrectly point out London on a map, and of the 2,000 surveyed, the majority couldn’t locate Edinburgh either.

Ordnance Survey research and Ambassador Sean Conway told 5 live Drive he was “shocked at the statistics.”

“It’s all about the destination and nothing about the journey and that’s sad,” he added.
