Can fitness trackers hinder weight loss?
Wearable tech, designed to aid weight loss, may actually be counterproductive suggests a new study. Fitness trackers monitor characteristics like heart rate, calories and steps taken.
The University of Pittsburgh followed 500 people who were trying to lose weight over a two year period, and those who didn’t wear any fitness trackers actually lost more weight.
Matt Roberts, a personal trainer in London, believes fitness trackers can be used as “an excuse to do nothing or to eat more.â€
However, he stresses that wearable tech is relatively new and still young in its development.
