Why you will soon need to buy your food if you fly BA short-haul

British Airways are to start charging for food on flights under three hours long. They'll be selling Marks and Spencer's sandwiches in the air because they've done an exclusive deal, and the cheapest alcoholic beverage will cost around £4. Simon Calder sounds the death knell for free short-haul meals and explains to Winifred Robinson what will be happening.
