Nevin: England must be 'heartless' and drop Rooney
Pat Nevin says that elite level football should be 'heartless' and many would drop Wayne Rooney on his current form.
Nevin said: "I don't know many people that look at Wayne Rooney at the moment and think 'you're playing well enough to be in that starting line-up'
"I think he's a fabulous player, he's been a fabulous player, but at the moment you have to be heartless."
Rooney captained England to a 2-0 victory over Malta at Wembley.
The match was the first under interim manager Gareth Southgate.
