El Paso taxi driver describes life on US/Mexico border

Jorge, known to his friends as George, has been a taxi driver in El Paso, Texas for the last 15 years. He says the US/Mexico border has “changed drastically” in that time.

He told 5 live Drive’s Anna Foster people would “climb the fence” or “jump out of manhole covers” to get across the border.

“Their hands were all bloodied because they used to jump the chain-link fence.”

On Donald Trump’s idea of building a giant wall between the two countries, Jorge believes it wouldn’t make much difference.

“You could build a 100-foot wall and people are going to get by, they’ll find a way.”
