'Listen, in those days it had to be a secret' - Being in an interracial relationship in the 1940s

Jake and Mary Jacobs have been in love for over sixty years, getting married in 1948. However the fact that Jake is black and that Mary is white caused them a range of difficulties in the early years of their relationship, especially with Mary's father.

The couple joined Jeremy telling him how it was to be in an interracial relationship in the 1940s and 50s.
