Charlie Adlard, one of the comic artists behind The Walking Dead series, has been appointed as the UK鈥檚 Comic Laureate.

The Walking Dead is a comic and hugely successful television series about life in the months following a zombie apocalypse.

The role aims to increase the acceptance of comics as an art-form in schools and libraries.

鈥淚 want to say we鈥檙e not just a niche little industry perceived as being just for kids,鈥� Charlie told 5 live.
