The man who cut off his own toes to save his leg
A diabetic man from Devon cut off two of his frostbitten toes, after the hospital cancelled his operation.
Paul Dibbins feared he might have to have his leg amputated after the cancellation, and so took matters into his own hands, cutting the toes off at home using a pair of pliers.
He told 5 live Drive he felt like he’d been “run over by a freight train” when told he could lose his leg.
Paul had not set out with the intention of cutting his own toes off after discharging himself from hospital, but was glad he chose to in the end.
