Costello: The risks in boxing are frightening

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s boxing correspondent Mike Costello describes the risks in boxing as 'frightening', but says over time the fears of boxers do fade.

However, he admits it is a very different story for the men who inflict the fatal blow on a fellow boxer - alluding to how Barry McGuigan coped with the death of Young Ali.

Young Ali was a Nigerian fighter who fell into a coma after being knocked out by McGuigan and never recovered.

"Those risks become all the more frightening, but the fears do fade when the deaths don't come around regularly," he told Will Perry and Steve Bunce on 5 live boxing.

"But for the friends and family of the men who died - they can never forget. And nor can the men who's fists inflict the injuries on the defeated boxers."
