What’s it like to have family trapped under IS control?
More than a million civilians are trapped in the city of Mosul, as Iraqi Special Forces continue their fight to free it from so-called Islamic State. They are going from house to house in the east of the city to try to clear out IS fighters, and make the area safe for people living there.
Dr Ahmed Sabaawi has a big family in Mosul, and told 5 live Drive that “nobody knows what will happen” and that “people inside the city don’t know what to do.”
“Too many civilians have been killed because they didn’t follow whatever ISIS tells them to do.”
“There is extreme risk for people.”
