Former Australia coach Robbie Deans believes Warren Gatland can guide The British and Irish Lions to a series win against New Zealand in 2017.

Deans, who beat the All Blacks three times while in charge of the Wallabies, says Gatland has a talented group at his disposal.

"He's got the biggest pool of talent available to him and the profile of that group is actually pretty good," Deans said.

"There are some young players coming through who are once in a generation players. Players like Itoje mean it's definitely do-able."
