The surprising world of English folk music
English folk music is generally much less well known than its Irish, Scottish and American cousins, but its traditions go back centuries. One man, Jon Boden, the former lead singer with the group Bellowhead, has made it his mission to bring English folk to the world. He has compiled a double album - The Ultimate Guide to English Folk - mostly played by contemporary artists, which has just been released. He told Weekend why:
