Why former players choose punditry over coaching?
Former Premier League players Andy Townsend and Danny Mills explain why they opted to work in the media instead of pursuing a career in coaching or management.
Townsend, a former Chelsea, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough midfielder, says working part-time as a pundit provides the "perfect environment" to take control over his life, which wasn't possible during his playing career.
Former Leeds and England defender Mills says "there are a lot things you miss out on being a footballer" such as spending time with your family. Once he started to have Christmas at home, he says the thought of giving that up and returning to the game became far less appealing.
