A scientist has proved that a theory called 'the Mpemba effect', held to be correct by the scientific community for over 50 years, is wrong.

In 1963 a Tanzanian man called Erasto Mpemba "proved" that in some circumstances, warmer water can freeze faster than colder water.

However Dr Henry Burridge from Imperial College London, tells 蜜芽传媒 Radio 4's PM programme that although he should be delighted at proving the theory wrong, "It's actually very disappointing" because "I really hoped it would be true".
