An accidental text has led to a grandmother welcoming a surprise Thanksgiving guest to her family's dinner table.

Wanda Dench, from Arizona, thought she was texting her own grandson, but the message went instead to Jamal Hilton.

The pair exchanged selfies, before the 17-year-old said, "you ain't my grandma, but can I have a spare plate?"

Wanda agreed and enjoyed introducing him to her family in Masa, saying: "I liked him right off the bat. He was very well-mannered, soft-spoken - just a nice guy to talk to."

As to whether she and Jamal will be keeping in touch, Wanda said, "Yes, absolutely."
