Jordan: Mercedes will make "big effort" to secure Vettel
Mercedes will make a "big effort" to lure Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel to the team as a replacement for outgoing world champion Nico Rosberg says former F1 team principal Eddie Jordan.
The German team, who have won the driver's and constructor's championships for the past three seasons, are looking for a team mate for Lewis Hamilton after Rosberg announced his shock retirement on Friday.
"I think that they will make a big, big effort to get Sebastian Vettel," Jordan said.
"Honestly the situation at Ferrari is very poor, the outlook is not strong. I think Vettel wants to try and see if he can equal the great Michael Schumacher in seven world titles. "
The 68-year-old goes on to say if he was part of Mercedes board he would be "focussing" on securing four-time champion Vettel.
