Eddie Jones: 'We'd take the All Blacks to the wire'
It was a perfect end to 2016 for England as they came from behind to beat Australia 37-21 at Twickenham on Saturday.
The record-equalling 14 test wins in a row means England finish the year second in the world behind the All Blacks.
Speaking to 5 live Breakfast's Rachel Burden, Jones said: "We'd take the All Blacks to the wire" if they were to play next week.
"Taking them to the wire means you're either going to get over the line or not. We'd be in a position to win the game against them."
He added: "To be number one in the world you have to be so consistent in the basics of the game. Our set piece was good in the autumn but we'd like to be more consistent - particularly in the scrum and the line-out."
