Integration review: British values 'not unreasonable'
A government commissioned review into social integration has concluded that public institutions have too often ignored or even condoned harmful religious practices in the name of tolerance and multiculturalism.
In a 200 page report, Dame Louise Casey says that there should be more emphasis on British values to help bind communities together.
She told 5 live Breakfast: "When people come here I don't think it's too difficult or too unreasonable to ask them to sign up to our way of life."
"Most people who are coming here - at that moment - are desperate to come here, want to work and want to get on."
When asked if the full face veil was a manifestation of the problem, Dame Casey responded: "I get tired with this issue being about women's clothing. However; do I think an awful lot of the British public find the full face veil challenging? Yes I do."
