New Champions League regulations are 'crazy'
Football writer Philippe Auclair has described the new Champions League regulations implemented by Uefa as "crazy".
From the 2018-19 season, the four highest nations from Uefa's club coefficient rankings and their top four clubs will bypass the qualifying rounds and go straight in at the group stages.
The current ‘top four’ are Spain, Germany, England and Italy, and Auclair says the new ruling will lead to the clubs from these nations dominating the competition for the foreseeable future unless the Champions League format is changed.
