There's been a wealth of research into the effect of global warming on polar bears as changes in the Arctic ice makes hunting for food more difficult. But global warming could also be affecting the wild reindeer herds in the Arctic with new research showing that reindeer in Svalbard - a group of islands near the North Pole - are now smaller and weaker than they used to be and consequently are dying at a younger age. The lead author for this research is Professor Steve Albon of the James Hutton Science Research Institute in Scotland.
