The actress who changed the lives of children across Berkshire
Ten days ago we lost Coral Atkins, who set up a children's home in Newbury.
Harry Whitehead, Coral Atkins' son:
"She was working on 'A Family at War' at the time, and she was invited to open a fete at a children's home. When she walking into the kitchen she saw a child crying under the table...she found herself under the table cradling the child.
"She said, I'm going to open a children's home...two years later she achieved that.
"They were seriously disturbed children. Coral's take on it was that they were the sane children of mad adults."
