Should emojis be used in official documents?
Lambeth Council sent out council tax bills with a crying face emoji on them, but is it good etiquette to use this type of language in official communications?
Stig Abell, Editor of the Times Literary Supplement, says it is fine to use them on informal texts, but not on official documents as "we should not dignify them any more than that".
Jurga Zilinskiene is the founder of Today Translations, who recently advertised for an 'emoji translator'. She defends the use of them saying it allows us to "express ourselves adequately when we don't have time to type the word".
