The editor of Vogue, Alexandra Shulman, recently announced that she will forego the stresses of the Christmas meal and take her family out to a restaurant on 25 December.

Food historian Dr Annie Gray tells Radio 4's PM programme she entirely agrees with the idea.

"There is so much pressure on that one day, it can just be a nightmare," she says, advising listeners to find somewhere more "fun" to eat on Christmas Day.
