Meet the generous Scout who’s giving up his Christmas gifts to feed others.
Gabriel Chrimes, an 8 year old Scout from Manchester, has chosen to sacrifice his presents this year. Instead he is asking for people to make food donations to charity. His mum, Nancy, spoke to 5 live:
“Gabriel, at first, sent a letter to Father Christmas and asked if he could have a nice present. Then he came back a couple of days later and said I don’t need a present for Christmas mummy, I don’t need anything.” She continued:
“The next day he came to me after school and said Mummy, instead of a present can I have food to give to people that don’t have anything. I’d like that as my present instead please.”
Gabriel added:
“because Christmas is a time for cheer, and it’s sad that people don’t have anything, I was helping them because I don’t want them to die”.
So far Gabriel has collected over 135 items for the charity Porch Boxes.
