Were Wham! about to reunite?
Los Angeles-based DJ Richard Blade has said that former Wham! singer Shirlie Kemp and bassist Deon Estus suggested there might have been a “Wham! renunion”.
Wham! lead singer and pop icon George Michael died on Christmas day of heart failure, according to his manager Michael Lippman.
Blade, a close friend of Michael, said Shirlie Kemp had told him in summer that the band “might be doing something in the future…there might be a show.”
Blade said: “Deon Estus had the same feeling that there might be a Wham! reunion… George was apparently up for this because he thought it would be fun.”
“We’ve been robbed of the chance to see a really fun pop band back together,” he added.
