Caged dog finds new owner after facing death sentence
A pitbull-type dog called Stella has been adopted by a kennel owner after being seized by police and being kept in a small cage for two years without exercise.
Stella was seized in 2014 and a destruction order was passed by a court in February. She remained locked in a small cage until June 2016, when Exeter Crown Court granted her a reprieve. That in turn started the process of finding a new home.
Speaking to Adrian Chiles, new owner Carolyne Pharoah explains the challenges involved in taking on a dog that's had such a difficult past and how Stella is adapting to her new life.
"I was expecting to meet with a very fearful dog that didn't want me to get the dog out of the in closed cage that is was in"
